How to install your air pump correctly

The benefits of an air pump for your pond are regularly discussed. An air pump introduces oxygen to your pond keeping it both aerated and circulating water. However although your air pump introduces air into your pond you must be aware to NEVER install an air pump BELOW water level! Water and electricity do not mix well!

Always consult the manufacturer’s installation guide when putting in your air pump. This will ensure maximum efficiency. It is also recommended to insulate your air pump. This will mean that in the colder months it does not add too cold air into your pond water. This will also help protect your air pump. Although necessary air pumps are not always designed with beauty in mind so you may also want to consider ‘hiding’ it in the landscape.
